Styling Jeans and Booties

Today I'm showing different options for wearing jeans with booties!  Boots and jeans should be easy...we've all been wearing the combination for a while now, but with so many different leg widths, lengths, and boot styles it's not as easy as it sounds.  It's sometimes hard to figure out which shoes to wear with which jeans and whether to roll or cuff and how high.  If you've been reading my blog, you probably know that I mostly like to wear skinny jeans and it's  because I think they look better with booties and I usually don't have to have them hemmed.  I have recently gotten a pair of jeans that are not so skinny at the bottom to wear with sneakers and I'm also determined to pull out my flared and wide leg jeans and wear them more.

If you are wearing wide leg pants or jeans, based on the time of day a wedge or stiletto is the best option.  If you are naturally tall, you can wear a ballet flat or low heel that will make you feel like Katherine Hepburn.  The hem must slightly touch the floor to create a long and lean look.  High waisted wide leg pants can seem challenging for tops as well.  A look that's been popular lately and one that I love is the "half tuck".  The "half tuck" is perfect for tops that a bit long or voluminous.  Simply tuck the front of your shirt into your pants loosely.  It is also an amazing way to conceal a wide hip.

A slim cropped jean can be worn with an ankle bootie.  The lower the boot on the ankle, the more awkward it looks to tuck your jeans into them.  Try to keep a space between the jean hem and top of the boot.  You can achieve this by rolling the jeans once or twice.  Ankle boots and skinny jeans are the perfect combination that will never go out of style.

This is a longer version of a skinny jean with taller ankle booties.  These jeans have a frayed hem that sits just above the boots.  Don't try too hard to tuck your jeans into the boots, just let them bunch a little for an effortless, just thrown on look.  Make sure your jeans are skinny enough so they don't bunch at the knee.

The look below obviously isn't booties, but I've had a hard time figuring out what to wear with these jeans because they aren't flared or skinny, but somewhat straight.  These sneakers seem to be the perfect option and are right on trend.

Some booties are wider at the top and are perfect for jeans that are rolled up.  Try rolling, cuffing or scrunching your jeans to hit right above where your bootie hits.  The look below is rolled twice.

Baggier cropped jeans or boyfriend jeans are perfect paired with a heeled ankle bootie.  The extra height of the shoe balances the fullness of the jeans.  Again, to provide balance, show a sliver of skin between the jean and the boot.  This shows off the thinner part of the ankle.

The key to making the skinny jeans and bootie look work is to make sure that your jeans aren't too bulky.  You want the shape of your leg to show.
