Wearing This Shirtdress on Repeat
A perfect summer dress…
There's a certain kind of Sunday that calls for a dress like this. Slow morning, late brunch, a long table somewhere with sunshine and good company. Maybe it's my favorite spot in Charleston, maybe it's the courtyard at home with Baldy and a mimosa. Either way, this is what I want to be wearing.
Tanya Taylor designs for women who want to feel like themselves, just a little more so. Her prints feel collected rather than costume. Her proportions actually flatter. There's a quiet confidence to her pieces and this dress is a perfect example of what she does best.
It looks like a set but it isn't. It's a shirtdress... buttons all the way up the front, sleeveless, with a full sweeping skirt. The surprise is in the back. A big beautiful bow ties at the waist, and you don't see it coming from the front. Walk away and the dress tells you something new. That's the kind of detail you get with Tanya Taylor.
This dress doesn’t need much in the way of accessorizing…I added my gorgeous VAHAN pieces…sterling silver and gold hoop earrings, an arm full of bracelets (this cross one is my favorite) and a pearl necklace with a cross pendant, along with my favorite pearl ring. I love to wear a platform heel and these raffia ones (these are a bit lower) from Larroudé feel perfect as does my rattan bag from Veronica beard. This dress just feels like an easy Sunday morning and I’m quite sure it’s going to live in heavy rotation all summer. I'm already thinking about wearing it to dinner while we’re at Bald Head.
We are actually headed to brunch with the family this morning. Our daughter Rebecca and her husband and little Stella are here and we can’t wait to spend time with them and our daughter Lauren and her family! It’s be a lively bunch but so much fun! Unfortunately, winter has set in during the month of May and I won’t be able to wear this dress because it’s too dang cold, but I did wear it on Mother’s Day and it was perfect! I hope you all are having a fabulous weekend!
Thanks so much for reading today!
