Sweet & Savory Platters for Your Summer Parties

Last Saturday, my friend Kim and I got together at her home to play around with ideas for new cheese boards/platters to serve. Kim has such a beautiful home, she is a fabulous cook and beyond creative when it comes to making things look pretty. I was really excited for the afternoon because I knew I would get so many great ideas from her and I wasn’t disappointed.

Her premise was to keep everything white with touches of green. I love this idea for a summer cocktail party…charcuterie boards are easy for fall and winter, but making a specific one for summer is a little more difficult and I love how these turned out.

We mixed sweet and savory on the same boards with the exception of one with macaroons, cupcakes and homemade marshmallows. Fresh flowers played a big roll in making these platters look even more beautiful.

In the picture below you can see white cotton candy sitting on top of a champagne flute waiting for the bubbly to be poured. It’s a fun and celebratory drink that will definitely surprise your guests. Keep scrolling through to get ideas for your next summer soirée!

To assemble the above platter we used…

Sliced provolone and swiss cheese (to make rosettes)

Homboldt Fog Cheese

Green grapes

Sliced Cheddar Cheese

Assorted Crackers and Breadsticks

Lemons (for garnish)

Pistachios

If you look carefully in the picture above you can see a head of savoy cabbage under a bell cloche! It’s such a simple idea but really beautiful (thanks Kim)!
