Crazy Blonde Christmas Traditions: The Little Things That Make It Ours

Welcome to Crazy Blonde Christmas…my new holiday series celebrating the most wonderful time of the yea! I couldn’t be more excited to dive into all the festive fun and share the joy this season brings. From our favorite family traditions and holiday must-haves to easy, delicious recipes, curated gift guides, and plenty of festive style inspiration, there’s truly so much to love!

I can’t wait to fill this space with holiday magic and share the heart of the season with you…the sparkle, the coziness, and all the joy that makes Christmas special. I hope Crazy Blonde Christmas inspires you to embrace everything you love about this time of year…the glitter, the laughter, the cozy nights, and yes, even the chaos!

Every year as the holidays approach, I find myself reaching for the same familiar things…things that have become part of our family’s Christmas story over the years. There is always a box of Williams Sonoma croissants waiting in the freezer for Christmas morning, peppermint bark on the counter for nibbling, and mugs ready for hot chocolate with lots of whipped cream for the grandchildren! The Spode Christmas plates come out of their storage boxes (my mom gave me several pieces each year for Christmas until I had the set), and the tree twinkles with hundreds of Christopher Radko ornaments collected over the years…each one a reflection of some season in our lives.

And then there’s the little touch of whimsy…a pillow that says “who needs santa when you have Bergdorf Goodman, because I love love love Bergdorf Goodman! A bottle of Veuve Clicquot chilling on the counter reminds me that celebration doesn’t always need a reason… sometimes it’s simply because we’re all together.

This post is the beginning of a series I’m calling A Crazy Blonde Christmas - a look back at the rituals, recipes, and beautiful bits and pieces that have shaped our family’s holidays. Some are polished, some are messy, but I think you’ll enjoy. I might continue the series over on Substack, but for now, this is where the magic starts…in the small, familiar things that make Christmas feel like home.

Every year on Christmas Eve, Baldy reads The Night Before Christmas! He read to our girls when they were little and now he reads to the grandchildren! He doesn’t read it as it was written, he reads his own version and it always makes me frown a little because it’s not especially the nicest, but the children roar with laughter so I can’t say too much! You can use your imagination as you’re reading and pretty much know where he embellishes! After the reading is finished, we put cookies out for Santa and the children go to bed (and the adults get busy)! Everyone wakes up early on Christmas morning to see what Santa brought!

As I share more of our traditions over the next few weeks, I’d love to hear about yours too...the foods you can’t imagine Christmas without, the ornaments that make you smile, or the rituals that mark the start of your season. Share them in the comments because the best part of any tradition is how it connects us, one story at a time!

Thanks so much for reading and don’t forget to leave a comment!

~XOXO Suzanne
