THE DURHAM

The Durham is a mid-century modern hotel in the heart of downtown Durham.  Formerly a bank building, it has been restored to a 53 room boutique hotel.  The hotel has a coffee shop, a fabulous rooftop raw bar and an American restaurant by James Beard Award winning chef Andrea Reusing, who creates the food and drink menus throughout The Durham.  The menus change daily and offer an array of delicious local food.  The rooftop bar offers breathtaking views of the city as well as handcrafted cocktails.

Last night, Mr. Crazy Blonde and I, along with Rebecca and her boyfriend Hayes, decided to have dinner and drinks at The Durham.  The weather didn't cooperate, but we still had a great time!  The food was so delicious and beautifully presented.  We had a really hard time ordering because everything sounded divine!

We had a break in the weather just long enough to take a few pictures outside.  As you can see, the views are stunning!

I'm wearing a great summer dress by Trina Turk from Rebecca & Co. Greensboro, that was actually perfect for the night because it was so hot!

The rooftop bar offers a raw bar and also a tapas menu.  I can't wait to come back and sit outside when the weather is better!

Everyone was so friendly and the service was impeccable!

The midcentury design is really apparent in the restaurant.  It feels like an episode of Mad Men!

A simple salad with local lettuces.

I ordered this bean salad with a mustard vinaigrette and paired it with crab cakes.  They were some of the best I've ever had!

Rebecca couldn't decide so she ordered a little bit of everything!  I really don't know how she stays so thin!

The onion rings were absolutely the best (I've said that about everything)!

The corn on the cob is prepared with mayonnaise, parmesan cheese and peppers!  You can look at it and tell how good it is!

There is an outdoor dining patio, but unfortunately it was raining.  Like I said, I can't wait to go back!

I hope you all have enjoyed my tour of The Durham.  I'm making plans to spend the night soon and get up the next day to explore the surrounding area.  Have a great weekend everyone and thanks for stopping by the blog!  Follow me on Instagram @crazyblondelifeblog!
