3 Things to Start Doing Today to Create the Life of Your Dreams
βThe best way to predict the future is to create it.β ~ Abraham Lincoln
You are responsible for your life. Donβt sit around and wait on someone to save you, to fix you or even to help you. Only you have the power to take responsibility to move your life forward. What matters is now..this moment and your willingness to see this moment for what it is. Accept it, forgive the past, take responsibility and move forward. The Universe (God) is waiting for you to start and will guide you from where you are. All you have to do is take the first stepβ¦every day.
I know itβs only December 13, but Iβm starting to think about the year ahead. How can I make this coming year better than the year before? How different is my life, right now, from what it was 12 months ago? How can I improve my life and the lives of others? What are my goals and dreams for 2019. I think it all starts with the realization that no one is responsible for my life other than me. So today, Iβm starting a series of posts that hopefully will encourage you to take the opportunity every day to make it the best day ever, resulting in the best year ever. Itβs all about those small things we do every single day because, Life is, inherently, a learning experience. Life is beautiful, and itβs supposed to be fun!
βAnyone who isnβt embarrassed of who they were last year probably isnβt learning enough.β ~ Alain de Botton
To learn is to change and evolve. Quit letting who you were talk you out of who you can become.
In order to change and evolve, you need to regularly create moments that bring awe and gratitude, and as a result, you will witness a shift in how you see yourself and the world.
If youβre ready to make 2019 your best year ever, you need to make some daily tweaks.
When was the last time you felt deep awe and gratitude?
When was the last time you felt courageous?
When was the last time you tried something that might not work?
You get to decide what youβre going to do. You get to decide how youβre going to live.
No one is stopping you. Live in alignment with your goals and words, donβt just talk about itβ¦live it!
One thing that is really beautiful about deciding to change, is that, as you move forward, you change your memory about the past. The past, regardless of what it has beenβββgreat or disappointingβββwill change in meaning as you make new and different decisions in your future. You will begin to be thankful for the painful times because they brought clarity and forced you to change and grow.
All you have is now.
Here are 3 simple things to do daily to make 2019 a great year - try them consistently for 30 days and see what happens!
Wake Up Earlier
βYouβre more likely to act yourself into feeling, than feeling yourself into action.β ~ Dr. Jerome Bruner
Iβve said it so many timesβ¦βIf I could just wake up an hour earlier, it would change my life.β So, why am I not doing it? (I actually did today!). Itβs a small victory, but a huge change. By simply waking up earlier, youβll gain confidence just because you did it. Iβm pretty proud of myself right now because I got up, did my morning meditation: itβs only 8:00 am and Iβve been working for almost 2 hours. Iβve created more time in my day, I feel good about myself, and therefore, Iβve reset how I feel about myself. Small victories bring confidence and that confidence carries over to other things. Do yourself a favor and start waking up a little earlier.
Drink More Water
Every morning, I get up and drink a huge glass of water with my green powder and collagen powder mixed in. Drinking water first thing in the morning actually makes you more alert and wakes up you. So, if you wake up and immediately drink a big glass of water, your morning sleepiness wonβt last long. Iβm really consistent in the morning, but often forget to drink water throughout the day.
Having water on an empty stomach helps in cleansing the colon, which in turn increases the efficiency of the intestine to absorb nutrients. It also helps flush out toxins from your body.
As we drink healthy amounts of water, we have smaller waistlines, healthier skin, and better functioning brains. Drink water all day long!
Write Your Goals Down, Every Single Morning
βAssume the feeling of your wish fulfilled and observe the route that your attention follows.β ~ Neville Goddard
After you get out of bed and drink a huge glass of water, find a spot to open your journal and write down your goals. Write down goals for the day, short term goals and long term goals. Do this daily, first thing in the morning. It will be life changing.
When you start your day stating your goals and intentions, your day will reflect thatβ¦you will approach the day with purpose. As you write your goals down, you shift your subconscious patterns. You train your brain to begin LOOKING for what you want. You begin to expect good things to happen and the Law of Attraction will respond.
Most people allow their habits to trigger them into subconscious patterns every single dayβ¦day in and day out. Think about what you usually do first thing in the morning. For most people, itβs looking at their phones and checking email (for me itβs Instagram). Iβve started to believe this behavior negatively influences my imagination and creativity? When our daughters were small, I limited media because I believed it stifled creativity and imagination. Now itβs time to apply the same rule to myself.
Change one behavior and change your life.
In order to change your day, you need to give yourself space for quiet reflection. Writing your goals down on paper doesnβt take long, but, know that as you write your goals down, you shift your subconscious patterns, so take it seriously and spend 10 to 15 minutes writing. By doing this, you train your brain to look for what you want. βYour eyes can only see what your brain is looking for.β This is very important - while writing your goals, imagine and feel what it would be like to already have achieved those goals.
Research has shown that journaling and writing down goals changes your brain. It actually makes new neural connections that change your memories and your perspective of the world. What would happen if your mind and brain changed daily to reflect the person you intend to become and the future you intend to create.
When you change one small thing (behavior), your mindset will be different, you will be more confident which in turn will help you to see the world from the perspective of your goals and not from your current circumstances. When you start to see your goals realized, youβll feel more confidence and gratitude and therefore have a deeper connection to others. It will be easier to step outside your comfort zone and go further than you ever imagined. Youβll love your life more.
Every morning, carve out 15 minutes to journal and youβll open the door to a new Universe where anything is possible. Donβt edit yourself, just write. As you write, youβll see CRAZY and AMAZING things go from your hand to your pen to your paper to your headβ¦ all from your heart. When I go back and read what I wrote a year ago, it truly amazes me how many things Iβve manifested in my life. This makes me want to be more consistent with my journaling going forward. Iβm confident that youβll feel the same way!
These things sound (and are) very easy and they are life changing. Try them every day for 30 days and see what happens. What happens when you start your day earlier, drink a large glass of water and write down your goals and dreams for the future? Itβs all up to you to create the life of your dreams!
