Getting Ready For Christmas Eve Night!

I can’t believe it’s finally Christmas Eve…what are your plans?

I will be cooking all day, stuffing stockings and getting the house ready for everyone to come around 6 pm this evening. We won’t have a big crowd, just family, but I’m looking forward to it!

This year, I’m trying a new recipe…I bought a Porchetta roast from our local butcher. It’s already stuffed and tied and all I have to do is roast it, but I’ll admit that it looks a little intimidating. I’m using this recipe for cooking it and I’ll serve it with sauteed green beans and Crispy Cheesy Potato Stacks from Half Baked Harvest. We’ll have chocolate pie and assorted cookies for dessert!

One of the gifts I’m giving this year is the Always Pan from Our Place. Unfortunately, everyone else in the world seems to be very excited too and I had to pre-order for myself and the girls. If it were in my kitchen…it would be perfect for preparing our holiday meal!

Amos has no idea what’s coming in the morning, but I can guarantee that he’ll be just as excited as Hudson and Graham to see what Santa brought!

For me, getting the house ready is one of the best parts of Christmas! I love to make everything smell good and sparkle with candle light and fires in the fireplaces. Today, it’s raining so we won’t have a fire outside, but usually there is a fire burning most of the day! Here are some of the things I do to make the house holiday ready!

An easy way to brighten up your home and your spirits is with candles.  Did you know that the smell of scented candles stimulates the part of your brain which is connected to memory and mood? That probably explains why I enjoy candles so much!

Everyone loves cookies and a cookie platter is so easy to put together! I used a combination of store bought and homemade cookies along with my favorite Dark Chocolate Covered Dates. I added some candy canes for color and fun.

I spent so much time wrapping gifts this year and I wrapped the boys gifts in special paper so they can easily spot their gifts! Children make Christmas so much fun and I can’t wait to see their faces as they’re opening their presents!

The stockings are hung, waiting to be stuffed tonight! Baldy and I always stuff the stockings after the kitchen is cleaned up and the house is quiet!

I think after the year we’ve had, we certainly deserve a treat! I found this fabulous glitter duster to wear tonight…not too dressy, but just special enough! I’m sure I’ll dress up on New Year’s Eve because ringing in 2021 deserves more than your average outfit! I’m thinking my Spanx Ankle Tuxedo pants with a fabulous pair of shoes will be just the thing…and don’t forget to pop the cork on a bottle of something sparkling!

I’m sending much love to everyone for the holidays and beyond! Cheers to a Merry Christmas and a fabulous 2021!
