A Pop of Green and a Little Bit of Grace

Every year around this time, my need to have everything perfect kicks in and I struggle to find balance. It’s such a busy time and things can get out of hand in the house, and in my life so quickly. Children come from out of town, there is so much more cooking to do, gift wrapping makes a huge mess and we won’t even talk about trying to find the perfect gifts for everyone! As you know, this is all in addition to what I normally do in a day and it’s a lot! I’m not sure what the answer is because I do really love to decorate our home and make everyone’s favorite foods, but I am always so exhausted when the holidays are over and I’m sure I’m not alone! #truth

The best thing I can come up with is to prioritize what’s most important and try to stay in the moment as much as possible. My morning meditations always help, but sometimes by lunchtime, I feel a need to sit down in my meditation chair again and regroup…anyone else?! In the scheme of things, it helps to remember how blessed I am to live in this beautiful house and have such a wonderful family and life! I’ve come through so much and even though I let my crazy get out of hand every now and then, I’m beyond grateful for the peace I’ve found and the journey I’m on! I’ve set the standard here, but truthfully, I’m not sure I’d have it any other way so I’m giving myself some grace!

About this look…

The cold weather is real here in North Carolina and I’m having to get used to it! Taking outdoor pictures requires so much more thought in winter because I’m not one to stand outside and freeze!

This outfit was just perfect for a cold Sunday afternoon! Baldy took these pics (he’s getting pretty good)…but, he’s not what I would call quick! We have to test the light and stand in different places and…you see what I’m saying - I have to be prepared to be outside for more than a minute! Thankfully, this outfit was warm and toasty and the only cold part of me was my hands - okay, maybe my nose was cold too! I need to get some hand warmers to keep in my bag for these occasions!

I ordered this amazing coat from Zara a while back and I’ve worn it so much! The length of the coat makes it very warm and the gold buttons make it dressy! I love a column of black (so slimming) paired with fun accessories. It’s an easy to put together look and everyone has black pants and a black sweater.

This fun bag is a such a great color of green that’s perfect in any season and I’m wearing my favorite Gucci boots to complete the look! These boots add a pop to anything I wear them with! Unfortunately, they are several years old and no longer available, but black suede booties work just as well!

In these last few days leading up to Christmas, I hope you are able to enjoy the last minute preparations and don’t forget to give yourself some grace!
