Closet & Bathroom Edition
I have been talking about our renovation for so many months now and finally…it’s just about done! My cabinet maker just left after putting in glass and a mirror in the cabinet in the center of my closet. It is the centerpiece and so very exquisite. I’ve talked about this before, but I just didn’t realize how out of sorts I have been for all these months because our things were scattered over the whole house. I’m actually still cleaning out and getting rid of things…the basement has been the dumping place for everything I didn’t know what to do with and now, I’m slowly going through all of it. We also still have painting to do in the hallway outside of the bedroom because we closed in a door to make my closet. I am okay with letting that go for a few more weeks because I’m so tired of people being in our home and I just want to enjoy the bedroom and continue to get organized! Having said all of that…here are a few pictures of the closet and bathroom. We still have some art to hang in these rooms but for the most part…everything is done. I am still waiting on a rug for the bathroom. I know exactly what I want and it is spectacular but it will take a while for it to get here! So for now, I’m using this hide that the dogs absolutely love!
I haven’t really shared that much about the bedroom yet because the window treatments aren’t finished and we’re waiting on a bed frame. We also have art and finishing touches to make. It’s coming along and I will photograph the space again very soon! I want to show you how I’ve organized my closet and the drawers in the bathroom!
I love the picture above because it really shows the focal points of the bathroom. The window was always there, but it didn’t have the beautiful window panes that make it feel in keeping with the age of the home (100 years in 1929). We added a new window and hung the beautiful ceiling chandelier! The light fixtures in the new spaces were really easy for me to pick out…I think they actually chose me and I absolutely love them all! They are all from Visual Comfort.
I have so much storage space in the bathroom now and a long counter top to add decorative elements! The antique teak Buddha was a gift from Baldy years ago. I found him in a boutique in Blowing Rock and he’s one of my most prized possessions. When I saw him in the boutique, he was draped with jewelry and I always knew I wanted to drape him with my jewelry and now…I have! The two paintings hanging above him were purchased from a design shop in Greensboro…Lisa Johnson Co. She has the most exquisite pieces and an eye for design like no one else!
Fresh flowers…especially hydrangeas from our yard always add so much to a space!
My dress in these pictures is from Banana Republic. It’s such a fun and affordable find and perfect for summer with my favorite Gucci sandals! The large beaded bracelet I’m wearing is from Tamera Beardsley and my ring is French Kande.
The apple collage pictured above is one of a pair that I’ve had for many years and it’s perfect for the space! I’ve decided to stack them together for more of an impact but just haven’t gotten around to it yet. The little bench is also a piece I’ve had for quite a while. Someone asked about the fabric and it’s so old that I have no idea what it is…but that just goes to show that animal print never goes out of style!
I wanted to have access to my products while taking a bath and found this perfect Amazon barcart! It’s really so pretty stacked with books, pretty soaps, bath oils, books and towels. I also placed a garden stool next to the tub to hold a spare towel or a glass of wine!
Having my picture made while sitting on the island in my closet is like a dream come true! I love this closet so much…it’s my little haven and it could’t be more perfect! I’m kind of obsessed with keeping it neat and organized. The focal point for the closet is definitely this gorgeous Visual Comfort chandelier! It makes me happy every time I turn it on! It might seem odd that I chose to wear jeans for this photo, but I’m a jeans girl through and through, so it’s very authentic! My shoes are from Bells & Becks, the jeans are from Mother and my white top is Veronica Beard from last year.
I tried to arrange my shoes and bags as if they were in a boutique. It’s an ever changing display, depending on what I want to showcase!
These two pieces of art are also from Lisa Johnson Co.!
As I mentioned in my YouTube video, I have ordered wallpaper for the ceiling in my closet but it’s backordered so it won’t be here until sometime in July…more to come on that!
Thank you for letting me share this post with you! This project was difficult, but worth the wait and I feel so blessed to have this space in our home! I’ll be adding to this post over the next couple of days…things have been crazy and there is more I want to say so please check back! Also, more to come on the bedroom! I feel as if our homes are and should be an evolution of who we are as the people who occupy them. Baldy and I are in a different phase of our lives now and we are changing things to reflect that phase. Home decor is a passion of mine and I’ve been fortunate for over 30 years to work with an amazing designer…Leigh Jones of The Very Thing, Ltd. She knows my quirks and my taste and guides me to make the best decisions while staying true to what I love! She has helped me move furniture, place rugs and listened to me vent over this renovation, but I couldn’t have done it without her!
Thanks so much for reading today!
