Don’t Save it for a Rainy Day
Styled for the storm…literally and figuratively!
You know that saying…"save it for a rainy day?" Well, that's a hard pass for me!
I used to be a saver, but not anymore. The good dishes, the fancy candle, the jacket that felt too special for a plain old Thursday…I saved it all. But here's what I've learned, and I'm sure you'll agree…Thursday (or any day) is the occasion. The rainy day is the day. And given everything happening around us right now, I'm on a mission to bring a little joy into my world and yours.
I'm doing it all…using the good dishes, lighting the fancy candle, and wearing my fabulous new jacket!
I saw this Veronica Beard rain jacket and could not stop thinking about it, so I ordered it. When it arrived, I actually did a little dance around the kitchen because it's just that fabulous. It's navy, belted, a perfect length, and has the most gorgeous tortoiseshell buttons. And the collar... have you ever? This is a jacket that almost makes me want it to rain, although I'll most likely wear it on a sunny day too. Why not? There was a time in my life when I would have saved this jacket for a “special occasion”…but not anymore!
When styling, I kept everything else simple…a white long-sleeve crew neck tee, Veronica Beard skinny flare jeans (my absolute faves), brown suede stiletto booties, and a brown suede bag. This jacket needs to take center stage!
Some days things feel so heavy and I almost feel guilty for smiling. But what I know deep inside is that we can't let the world drag us down. Spreading smiles, joy, and love, and yes, getting dressed, is defiant. We all deserve permission to feel good, and joy is contagious. So get dressed, get out, and smile at everyone you see. You never know, you just might make someone’s day. Even if you can't fix the big things, you can make a difference, and little acts of kindness are actually really big things!
The world will have its storms, but we don't have to dress, or act like we're defeated by them! Let’s make our LIGHT SHINE BRIGHTER with each day that passes and know that LOVE ALWAYS WINS!
So tell me…what are you done saving? The good dishes, the fancy jacket, the permission to feel good right now? Drop it in the comments because I’d love to know. And if you're looking for a little joy today, start with a smile and then get dressed…and take that smile out the door with you!
Thanks so much for reading…I hope this post brings a bit of joy into your day!
~XOXO Suzanne
