From Collage to Closet

Y’all…there are almost 400 collages on my Amazon Storefront! I have been trying to figure out a way to find a place for them to all live on this blog so they’re easier to reference and I have finally contacted someone who may be able to help me. I can do some things on the backend of the blog, but I’m really not qualified to add another drop down bar…so hopefully, I’ll be able to get that done soon.

I make these collages in the hopes that you will find inspiration in your own closet first, and then shop to fill in the gaps if you need to! So…when you’re standing in front of your closet thinking you have nothing to wear, go to my Amazon Shop and look around for an outfit that has similar pieces to what you already own. You can be inspired by many things…I’ve compiled a list below that will help you go from Collage to Closet and hopefully it will make getting dressed so much easier! Keep scrolling for the list and enjoy the new outfit ideas as well as the home refresh at the end!! You can also click the link below to download a list to your computer or phone!

I love the lady like aspect of the look below (lady like is trending for fall). It combines a lower heel slingback sandal, a cardigan sweater with pearl buttons and a cute and very versatile black top handle bag. Adding jeans tones it down a bit and makes the whole look wearable for everyday!

From Closet to Collage

Here’s how to look at a collage and build an outfit from your closet…

From Collage β†’ Closet Formula

Step 1: Spot the Color Story

  • Look for the main colors in the collage.

  • Choose 2–3 to focus on (ex: blush pink + white + gold).

  • Pull clothing or accessories you already own in those shades.

Step 2: Identify the Key Piece

  • Every collage usually has a β€œhero” item (bold jacket, flowy skirt, statement shoe).

  • Pick one similar item from your wardrobe to make your outfit center around.

Step 3: Recreate the Silhouette

  • Notice if the collage leans oversized, structured, or flowy.

  • Mimic the proportions (ex: oversized blazer + fitted pants, or flowy skirt + slim top).

Step 4: Match the Textures

  • If the collage mixes denim + silk, or lace + leather, try pairing similar textures you own.

  • Textures often make the outfit feel as luxe as the collage.

Step 5: Add the Accessories

  • Accessories in collages are mood-setters.

  • Look for details like layered jewelry, hats, sunglasses, or statement bags and add them in.

Step 6: Capture the Mood

  • Think about the energy of the collage (romantic, edgy, minimal, playful).

  • Even if you don’t have the exact pieces, choose items that give off the same feeling.

Step 7: Final Polish

  • Step back and see if your outfit feels balanced.

  • If it’s too plain, add one more bold accessory. If it feels too much, remove one.

✨ Bonus Trick: Keep a few collages you love on your phone. Before you get dressed, glance at them and pull one element (color, texture, or accessory) to instantly elevate your look.

I love how Amazon styled the black turtleneck sweater (comes in lots of other colors) over a striped button down with a black skirt. That’s an outfit idea all by itself, but this versatile sweater is just to easy to throw on with a pair of jeans, black booties and a black bag. The gold necklace and black sunglasses add a touch of sophistication!

Two more sweaters that can be styled endlessly with skirts, trousers, regular blue jeans or off-white or white jeans!

I love bright colors in our home and sometimes, as with your wardrobe, adding a pop of color is a great way to jazz things up! Simply putting new throw pillows on the sofa, adding a decorative bowl or lighting a new candle can boost your mood and make your space feel new again! Interestingly, we took up an area rug in our den to have it cleaned and decided we liked it better without the rug, so adding can be fun, but also, try taking something away if the space feels to cluttered or you just need a change!
