Let the Holidays Begin

Now that Thanksgiving is officially over, it’s time to get ready for Christmas! We got our Christmas tree yesterday and as we speak, Baldy is in the living room putting the lights on…it might just illuminate the whole neighborhood! I’m beginning to pull out the bins filled with the ornaments that we’ve collected over the past thirty some years and later today, we’ll make a big charcuterie board and start the decorating!

I got a little distracted yesterday sitting at my computer shopping the Black Friday sales and probably didn’t get quite as much done as I had hoped, but at least I got a little shopping done! I have to send a big box to Germany to our daughter Sarah with gifts for her, our grandson Bristol and her husband Will. The shipping takes a while and everything is delayed just a bit right now, so I need to get that in the mail ASAP!

Don’t miss my post from yesterday that I’ve been constantly updating with all the great sales and codes. I’ve also included some of my favorite things that you can shop as well!

I’m leaving for New York on Friday with my daughters Lauren and Rebecca and couldn’t be more excited. It’s their Christmas present and they’ve planned everything. We’re seeing Come From Away on Broadway…we have amazing dinner reservations, and of course, we’ll be doing lots of shopping! New York is magical this time of the year!

I wore this outfit to the Christmas Tree farm and it kept me nice and toasty! We’ve been going to the same place to get our tree for as long as I can remember and it’s a family tradition.

The weather here has gotten cold and windy so I was very thankful for the cozy scarf that added an extra bit of warmth around my neck. My camel coat, which I see as a closet essential because it goes with everything, was purchased last season on major sale from Veronica Beard. It’s no longer available, but I’ve linked several similar ones at different price points. To say I’m obsessed with Veronica Beard would be an understatement. She makes the most amazing blazers that you’ll keep, love and wear forever! I love having great basics in my closet to create easy outfits without having to think about it too much!

I had someone ask if I’m doing another Holiday House Tour this year and the answer is yes! I’m hoping to be mostly finished with my decorating by the time we leave for New York so that I can do it the week of December 6. Every time I go to NYC, I come home with so many ideas that I have to tweak the decorations! Travel is so inspiring…

As our girls have gotten older with families of their own, we’ve really begun to realize that making memories is so much more important than getting presents. That’s not to say that we don’t have great Christmas memories but so many of the gifts that have been exchanged are gone…it’s the memories that live on.

“Christmas, my child, is love in action. Every time we love, every time we give, it’s Christmas.” ―Dale Evans

Be sure to check back tomorrow because my post will be all about new decorating ideas for the holidays! Also, be sure to follow me on Instagram as I’ll be sharing sneak peaks of how I’m decorating on my IG Stories!
