Setting Intentions for May

May 4th is my birthday and I will turn 59 years old. How will I spend my 59th year? What experiences do I want to have this year? What experiences do I want to have this month?

I’ve decided that this year will be documented on Crazy Blonde Life as I live in the biggest way possible! My desire is to inspire you to live fully, to be present, to show up and experience your life, to take up as much space as you want to and to live and serve as you wish!

I don’t plan to set goals…my desire is to feel everything as deeply as possible. To feel exhilaration (often), to be curious, and to take myself where I feel led to go. I heard Brené Brown say (not an exact quote) that by the time we get to midlife, we’ve created an armor to protect ourselves, but it’s really more like a shell that we go into for protection. In order to really live, we have to take off the armor, be vulnerable and become curious. This quote really resonated with me and so…my word for this year in my life is curiosity. There are so many things I want to learn and that is how I will lead myself into this last year of this decade!

Leading yourself is a concept that I’m really delving into in the year long program that I’m involved with. I will lead myself through continuing to learn. That includes travel, taking courses, reading (fiction and non fiction), trying new things and having many new experiences. I desire to live my best life and be the best possible version of myself. I will continue to uncover what that really means!

This month is a very busy one for me…

As you probably know, our youngest daughter and grandson, who live in Germany are staying with us because her husband is deployed. We’ve actually found a little rental house for her that she’ll move into on May 5. It will be good for all of us. It’s hard to have grown children stay with you long term and I know it’s been difficult for her as well!

So the month goes something like this…

Family dinner for my birthday on May 3 and dinner out with Baldy on May 4.

I’m hosting a bridesmaids luncheon for a friend on May 6 and then we are going to her rehearsal dinner party. I will be sharing pictures and recipes from the luncheon here, so be sure to look for that post! I’m planning a delicious menu and the table will be beautiful! We are also really looking forward to the rehearsal dinner party and I have a gorgeous dress to wear! The following day is the wedding!

Mother’s Day is May 8…I certainly want to be spoiled myself, but I also want to do something special for my daughters who are mothers! The plan is coming together and I’ll also share those plans here on the blog. Needless to say, Baldy and I have been working hard to get the house and yard ready for these events. I’m posting a video of the house on Instagram stories later today, so be sure to check!

We have a small reprieve between May 8 and May 15 and hopefully, I’ll have space to relax a little because on May 16, I fly to Birmingham with a friend. I haven’t talked about this at all, BUT…my friend Lisa Richie and I are doing a photo shoot with Victoria Magazine. Lisa has a company called Manners to Go…she teaches manners in corporate situations and also in schools. The Victoria shoot will be a 5 to 6 page spread on manners for Afternoon Tea and we couldn’t be more excited! We’ve been planning this for a while…shopping for dresses, making hotel reservations (I’ve never been to Birmingham), and brushing up on the ins and outs of afternoon tea! This is an amazing opportunity for both of us. In life, you just never know why things happen and the story of our friendship and the way we met is one for another day. The moral of this story is to trust and know that when you live with intention and faith, things will always work out for you. You are co-creating with the Universe!

The following weekend we will be going to Beaufort, North Carolina for a big wedding party for the same bride mentioned above. It will be a weekend filled with so many events and we are looking forward to it!

We come home from Beaufort…catch our breath and then…the very next weekend - May 28, our daughter Rebecca is getting married. I’ve been busy for quite some time planning, and finally, I feel that things are coming together. The wedding will be beautiful!

The month of May will be a whirlwind of a month and in between all of these events…there will still be everyday life!

Between myself and three daughters, you can only imagine how many dresses I’ve purchased!

So…in order to make it through this month and still stay somewhat sane, I’m planning to live with much intention. I’ve organized meals, made lists and more lists! I will say, that my childhood and still best friend, Britt has helped me more than I can say! She is an angel and like a sister to me! I could have not done any of this without her!

My desire is to fully experience every single moment of this amazing month! It will be over in a flash but the memories will live within me forever.

And then…on June 1, I will release a small program called The Creative Flow. I’ve been working on it for a while now…It will be 10 days and designed specifically to help women in midlife really get curious about what the next steps in life will be. The Creative Flow was inspired by Brené Brown because after I heard her speak about taking off the armor and getting curious, I realized just how important curiosity is…at all stages of life. That, combined with my determination to life this year as if it were my last, inspired this program! I’ll have more details coming soon but I know you’ll love it!

On June 15, Journey of Becoming will begin it’s third incarnation! I have special plans for how this will unvold and I’m excited to share very soon!

It probably goes without saying that I’ll also be getting a little rest in June. I’ll spend a little time alone at the beach, journaling and reflecting and I’ll admit…I’m looking forward to the solitude!

This past month, I’ve been barely keeping up with everything going on, and haven’t posted as much as I would have liked. I’m hoping that by being very organized, I’ll be able to post more in May and share my recipes, dresses, table decor and wedding tips. Please give me grace as I step into May!

I hope this post has inspired you to set your own intentions for your life and for the month of May… to purposefully create memories that will last a lifetime!
