The Best Mother’s Day

I’m not even sure how it’s already almost May, but it’s time to start thinking about Mother’s Day! I thought it would be nice to put together a post with gifts, recipes, and ideas for creating a wonderful Mother’s Day for that special person in your life!

This will be the first Mother’s Day since my mom passed and I’m planning to have brunch with my girls and I’m sure we’ll be telling lots of funny “Nonnie” stories as we remember her! I’m so fortunate to have my daughters close by and be able to spend time with them! They are all mothers now and I’m one lucky grandmother to have 4 beautiful grandchildren! Keep scrolling for a few good ideas to make Mother’s Day 2024 the best day ever!

Gift Ideas…

All of the items on my Mother’s Day Gift Guide are things that I would love to be receive myself! I actually was gifted the beautiful lily-of-the-valley robe from Heidi Carey and it’s one of my favorite things ever. It’s so feminine, pretty and cozy. This robe comes in other prints and they are all fabulous! If you don’t know this brand, it’s one you’ll want to check out!

I love the gorgeous rattan bag from Tory Burch…it makes a great gift and goes with everything! This one is a little less expensive and so cute! I added the cute sunglasses to the guide because they are absolutely fabulous and only $10 on Amazon…you can’t beat that price, especially for the look and they come in lots of colors!

I linked the Four Thousand Weeks book yesterday in my blog post and it would make a very thoughtful and special gift. The Mother and Child coffee table book by Claiborne Swanson Frank is full of beautiful photography and is a gift that will be treasured for years to come!

Every girl loves Julie Vos jewelry and the earrings and necklace included in my guide are so versatile and would be a perfect complement to so many looks year round!

As you have probably noticed, rattan is having a moment again this spring and summer and the cute rattan flats would make such a thoughtful gift. These are similar and a little less expensive.

In my opinion, you can never go wrong with a candle or great quality skin care products. Nest candles are everyone’s favorite and the Sunlit Yuzu & Neroli Classic candle is light and perfect for spring and summer. The Brightening Retinol Eye Cream is such a good product for helping with puffiness and reducing the look of fine lines and wrinkles. The YSL pink Loveshine lipstick is the perfect color for spring and everyone can wear it…it’s sheer and luxurious (it does come in other colors, but the pink is my favorite)!

The Hammered Copper Tea Kettle is just what every tea lover would want and the Travel Tea Cup is for days when lingering over a cup of tea just isn’t possible!

The last item is a handcrafted Poppy Bowl from Michael Aram! I have been collecting Michael Aram pieces for years…they’re so beautiful and a nice addition to any decor. You might also love this Michael Aram Heart Dish!

Delicious Ideas for Brunch…

I would loved to be served this Strawberry-Lime Granita with Coconut Cream! Recipe via Williams Sonoma

This video is a blast from the past…I looked so much younger (and blonder), but the recipe is still one of my favorites…Roasted Asparagus with Parmesan and Pancetta! It’s perfect for spring and a great side dish for salmon or chicken and if you can get fresh asparagus…even better!

I haven’t been very active on my YouTube channel recently, although there are a few new videos that were posted in the fall, but hopefully in the near future I’ll be able to film more often.

This Smoked Salmon Board went viral on Pinterest and for good reason! It’s easy, delicious, beautiful and a real crowd pleaser! Click here for the recipe…it’s perfect for brunch and goes beautifully with a glass of Champagne or a Mimosa!

Mother’s Day Activities…

When our children are younger, there are so many activities and fun physical things we can do together to entertain them and us…this doesn’t have to end when your children are grown! This year on Mother’s Day, consider grabbing your mom, daughters, or both and going to a yoga class, going for a bicycle ride, or visiting a museum.

You can also create a Time Capsule to preserve the memories of the day in honor of Mother’s Day. Add sentimental, handwritten letters, photos or anything else you can think of that will document this time in your life. I would love to have had something like this to go through when my mom passed away. There were lots of pictures and letters, but if they had been all together to tell a specific story, they would have been even more meaningful.

You could also consider making a creating a Gratitude Jar. Write down or print all the reasons you appreciate your mom or other special lady in your life, or even your daughter or daughters or a special friend. Fold the papers up and put them in a pretty container with a lid so that they can be read over the next few days or weeks. Gratitude is a great reminder of how special we all are to each other…even though we’re all so busy!
