Unexpectedly Cheerful Things - Small Ways to Make a Difference

“You have the power over your mind, not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.” - Marcus Aurelius

A little altar while I'm working - Crazy Blonde Life

Every morning we all wake up with the promise of a new day. It is our choice what we make of it.

So we are home for an unexpectedly long period of time…what to do?

My heart goes out to all of the people who are sick with Coronavirus and those that aren’t getting paid because they can’t go to work and to all of the children that are struggling and suffering through this. We all probably know of someone who is being affected in this way and there are things we can do such as donate food to food banks and continue to support our local restaurants and shops that are offering curbside and delivery services.

There are however, so many people like myself…I am home, and I find myself getting bored and wondering when this whole thing will be over, but I know that I’m one of the lucky ones. My husband is working from home and still getting paid and I am able to work. We still have access to food and we live in a beautiful, comfortable home. It’s really not so bad for me, but I want to help in any way that I can!

You know that I’m all about being positive and finding joy, so since the vibe of joy is way higher than the vibe of fear, it seems that it makes sense to raise our vibrations right now! Even if you do nothing but find a way to feel happy…that is putting positivity into the world and the world needs positivity right now! Regardless of the situation, we all have the opportunity right now to CHOOSE the way we move through & forward from this coronavirus situation. We have the choice to choose JOY over FEAR.  To BE LOVE instead of STRESSED. There are so many ways to help in big and small ways, even from home.

Let's take this opportunity and use it for profound good. Are you with me?

Inspirational quote - Crazy Blonde Life

Most of us have free time, so don’t treat those hours like vacation. Don’t hang out and do nothing. Take those extra hours and make them count. Here are a few things you can do to bring joy to yourself and the world…and to make good use of all that free time!

Donate blood if you can. Right now, American Red Cross faces a severe blood shortage due to an unprecedented number of blood drive cancellations during this coronavirus outbreak. Healthy individuals are needed to donate now to help patients counting on lifesaving blood.

Donate to your local food bank. Consider donating money, it not only gives food banks flexibility over which supplies — including fresh foods and paper products — to offer, but also lets them decide when to refresh their stocks.

Offer assistance to your neighbors. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (C.D.C.) considers the elderly and people with chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and lung disease to be at higher risk from the coronavirus. If you’re in a lower-risk group, reach out to your higher-risk neighbors and ask them how you can help, whether by picking up prescriptions and groceries or offering other assistance. Even if they’re already fully stocked, simply reaching out can be helpful, particularly as people spend more time at home instead of out.

Stock up on food and THEN STOP…It’s tempting to respond to footage of panicked shoppers freaking out and buying massive amounts of toilet paper, but panic buying just contributes to shortages — and more panic. If you already have 30 days’ worth of prescriptions, food, and household supplies at home, it’s time to STOP SHOPPING.

Take a long walk with your kids or grandkids or your dog. They are being affected as well, even if they don’t have the words to tell you!

Read something that expands your mind. It’s never a bad idea to learn something new!

Spring clean your house…I’ve been spring cleaning and it feels so good to have a clean house… it also gets rid of germs! I love The Laundress products! They’re a small business and they could use your support!

Order takeout from your favorite local restaurant. They are struggling and some are closing so they really need your support right now!

Call your parents or grandparents.Even if you don’t feel that it’s safe to see them, they want to hear from you!

Support you local gym or yoga studio by taking advantage of their remote classes!

Start a meditation practice. Meditation has been proven to reduce stress and prevent anxiety. We could all use that right now!
