The Yellow Cardigan and the Art of Starting Over
Showing up on purposeβ¦
//Tuckernuck Cardigan//Still Here Jeans//
It's never too late to make this life everything you've always wanted it to be. Your life is yours to design, so take advantage of that power.
It doesn't matter when you start. It matters that you start with clarity, discipline, and faith. Every decision rooted in purpose moves you closer to what you've always wanted.
I've been writing this blog and showing up on social media for almost 13 years. Some days I look back and I'm amazed at how far I've come. Other days I look back and can't understand why I haven't gotten farther. That frustration is real and on those days, I have to return to the beginningβ¦to why I started and what my purpose actually is.
My purpose is to inspire women to live a beautiful life and to see the beauty within themselves. To encourage creativity and curiosity, because that's what leads you down the path that is yours and yours alone to take.
So I get clear on that purpose and I start again.
That's not failure. That's the work.
Be selfish about your purpose. Put it first. It sounds counterintuitive, but it's actually the most generous thing you can doβ¦for yourself and for every person you want to help.
Everyone can have what they want. If it's rooted in goodness and truth, it belongs to you.
Here's the thing about purposeβ¦it's not just a motivational concept. It's metaphysical law. What you hold in your mind with clarity and feeling, you draw into your experience.
The frustration I feel on those hard day isnβt a sign that something is wrong. It's resistance. And resistance means you're close to something. The universe doesn't withhold what belongs to youβ¦but it does require that you believe it belongs to you before it shows up.
Getting clear on purpose isn't just good strategy. It's energetic alignment. When your thoughts, your actions, and your deeper knowing are all pointed in the same direction, things move. Doors open and the right people appear. Opportunities that were always there suddenly become visible.
You are always in the process of becoming. There is no arrivalβ¦there is only the next version of yourself calling you forward. Your job is to listen and to trust. To act as if it's already doneβ¦because on some level, it is.
Now,,,about this cardigan from Tuckernuckβ¦
Youβve seen it before in this post and it is my current obsession! I love the bold yellow, I love that itβs cropped and so soft and I love the covered buttons. I've been reaching for it constantlyβ¦the color seems to go with everything!
I styled the cardigan with my wide leg, cool mom jeans from Still Here. These jeans feel like they've been in my closet forever and honestly, the best jeans always do. Theyβre high waisted, already perfectly broken in, and theyβre just the thing for a casual day. Theyβre great with sneakers, sandals and boots! The combination of the soft feminine cardigan with the relaxed denim is one of those pairings that works every single time. My sneakers are from Sam Edelman and have just a touch of leopard print on the back which adds another element of interest to the look.
The bag from Call It By Your Name is the surprise of the whole look. Itβs a green bandana print tote that is over the top chic and right on trend. It's casual, a little funky and completely unexpected, which is exactly why I love it. Sometimes that unexpected piece makes the whole look!
Spring is here. Go outside. Wear the yellow. Start again.
Andβ¦a bit about Call It By Your Name - the brand that makes the fabulous bandana bag!
Call It By Your Name is a Paris-based brand founded by designer Colombe Campanaβ¦a Studio BerΓ§ot graduate who spent years designing for fashion houses like Sonia Rykiel, Claudie Pierlot, and & Other Stories before launching her own venture during the first lockdown of 2020. The concept is as charming as the bags themselves - authentic bandanas made in South Carolina, brought to Paris to be hand-embroidered by skilled artisans. Every piece is designed with upcycling in mindβ¦reusing existing materials, reducing waste, and creating something completely original in the process. American roots, French hands, one of a kind result. It's the kind of brand story I can't resistβ¦small, intentional, and made with care. Itβs exactly the kind of thing I want on my arm. Iβm linking a few other favorites by this brand in the boutique below!
Some days the universe just dresses you! Yellow is the color of energy, confidence and joy and always makes me feel hopeful! When I walked outside to take these pictures, with the sun on my face and an outfit that felt like me, it didnβt feel at all accidental! It all came togetherβ¦ the tulips, the bag, and the beautiful sunlight!
This is what beginning again looks like. It doesnβt have to be dramaticβ¦just a clear decision to come back to my purposeβ¦as many times as necessary. Every time I do this, something shifts and the alignment comes back. Soβ¦show up on purpose and let the day meet you there!
Thanks so much for reading!
