Personal Style, Vintage Details, and Wearing What I Love
This look feels entirely like me…and I love it!
I fell in love with this lace midi dress from Ulla Johnson the moment I saw it! It’s so easy to wear and can be styled in endless ways! I chose to style it with my (almost vintage) Jimmy Choo moto boots that I’ve been wearing and loving for years…I knew when I saw the dress that they would be perfect! What’s crazy is that the boots are still available so I guess I’m not the only one who’s loved them!
This look strikes a perfect balance for me…the one I’m always chasing - romantic but a little rebellious, polished yet lived-in! I’ve layered the look with vintage accessories…rhinestone earrings, a fur stole, and a red velvet evening bag that I found at a thrift store…it still has a little perfume bottle and compact that I suppose came with the bag!
I believe the magic is always in the details, especially the ones with a story (even if I don’t know the story). Fashion, at this stage of my life, isn’t about trends or rules, it’s about instinct (finally), joy, and honoring what makes me feel most myself!
At 62, a grandmother, and happily “elegantly undone,” I’m finally more certain of my personal style. I’m drawn to pieces that feel timeless, soulful, and expressive…much like the spaces I love.
These photos were taken in the side entry of our 99-year-old North Carolina home, where so much history lingers in the walls. I know some of the stories and that makes me love the house even more…in spite of it’s quirkiness! I love how the light dances across this stunning Schumacher wallpaper that was hung earlier this year…it just might be my favorite thing that we’ve done in the house!
There’s an elegant ease and warmth here that mirrors how I want to dress and live! It’s a little unexpected and definitely a lot of fun! This coming year is going to be about continuing to get to know myself and evolve in the most authentic way. Our lives are layered with stories…some easy and joyful and some, not so much. This new season for me will be unapologetically personal, with a nod to the past, because that’s what brought me to this point and a confident step forward into a new chapter.
In this season, I’m choosing to share only what I truly love - clothes I would wear, spaces that inspire me, and moments that feel honest. This look, this house, this life all reflect that same philosophy - style isn’t about perfection, it’s about presence!
Knowing who you are, embracing it fully, and showing up exactly as yourself never goes out of fashion. Cheers to a new season!
At this point in my life, style feels simpler and more intentional..as it should! I wear what I love, mix old with new, and try to trust my instincts. Whether it’s a lace dress with moto boots or vintage pieces layered into everyday life, this is what feels right to me now - collected, confident, and comfortably myself.
Thanks so much for reading today!
