Effortless French Girl Style with Sézane
I’ve always loved the simplicity and confidence of French girl style. It’s not about standing out, but about feeling good in what you’re wearing - that easy kind of confidence that comes from clothes that fit your day-to-day life. French girl style is built on effortless elegance…clean lines, timeless pieces, and natural details. It’s less about trends and more about balance - think classic jeans with a feminine top, or a structured blazer paired with something relaxed underneath.
French Girl Style is look is polished but never forced. Today, I’m sharing a special suede top along with a few of my favorite pieces from Sézane. Each one feels both special and completely wearable, the kind of pieces that make everyday dressing a little more effortless. I hope you find some inspiration in my take on French girl style.
In this outfit, I’m wearing a suede top from Sézane, flare jeans, suede booties from Veronica Beard (similar here), and an older bag (similar here and less expensive here). Sézane is one of my favorite French brands because it exudes a mix of timelessness and individuality. While the brand is known for elevated basics, the top I’m wearing shows how their pieces often stand out quietly with simple designs that feature unexpected details. The suede is a perfect weight that doesn’t feel overdone.
Paired with flare jeans and booties, the look gives a nods to the 1970s influence often seen in French fashion…easy, feminine, and balanced. It feels modern but still classic, and that’s the beauty of it.
Styling Note…When styling booties with flare jeans, the key is getting the proportions right. The hem of the jeans should almost touch the top of the boot, just skimming it without bunching. A heel helps elongate the leg and keeps the flare from dragging. Choose an ankle boot…something sleek but not bulky, so it doesn’t compete with the wider leg shape. Keep the rest of the outfit balanced and simple, letting the silhouette do the work.
