What I’m Loving - Spanx Black Friday Favorites, Balsam Hill, Vahan Jewels & Life Lately
This week has flown by at lightening speed and I can’t believe it’s almost Thanksgiving! For the first year ever, our Christmas tree is up before Thanksgiving and honestly, it feels good to have it done! We bought a 9 foot Balsam Fir flip tree from Balsam Hill and I couldn’t be more pleased with it! Every year for 35 years, we have gone to a local tree log the day after Thanksgiving to pick out our tree. It’s been a fun tradition, but it’s so much trouble to get the tree home, turn back the rugs, put a towel under the tree stand, get the tree in the stand, make sure it’s straight and then…let’s not even talk about the lights!
The tree from Balsam Hill was delivered to our door on Wednesday (it came in three days) and Baldy was out of town, so my son-in-law came over to help me get the box inside…it was heavy and large. After he left, I was able to put the tree up by myself in a little over an hour and then all I had to do was plug it in (scroll down for a picture).
Anyway, I still have to get the decorations on, but that’s the plan for tomorrow. I don’t want have the house completely decorated until after Thanksgiving, but it feels good to have a few festive things out here and there and have the tree up! The grandchildren will love it!
I’m sharing this fabulous Spanx Air Essentials set today and it’s the set you never knew you needed! Spanx is having a 30% off sale and it’s just too good! Air Essentials pants and tops are so soft and wearable and they wash really well so these pieces look new forever! I especially love the festive red for this time of the year! How can you not feel happy when you’re wearing red from head to toe! I paired my set with older silver sneakers from Tory Burch and one of my favorite metallic bags from Quilted Koala! All of these pieces are under $100 right now and would make great gifts! There are so many sales that it’s making me dizzy right now and I’m not sure which one to shop first. I’m actually just getting started with my shopping because I’ve been working on so many gift guides that I hope you’ve been enjoying!
As you probably know by now…I’m collaborating with Vahan Jewelry and have been wearing some truly beautiful jewelry lately! What I love most about this jewelry aside from the fact that it’s stunning, is that I can wear it with my Spanx and I can wear it with a fancy cocktail dress! It elevates every single outfit! We are headed to the UNC football game later this afternoon with some friends and it’s a beautiful day here! I need to figure out what I’m going to wear because this weather has thrown me a curve ball. It’s been a little chilly but today it’s going to be 72 degrees and sunny and our seats are right in the sun! I forgot my sunglasses last time and was miserable, so hopefully I’ll get it together today! Check out my Instagram stories later on to see what I decide to wear - Carolina blue is not an easy color and a lot of times, I resort to white jeans with a denim jacket which is kind of boring so today I’ll try to jazz it up a bit!
As for the rest of the weekend…I’m planning to get the tree decorated and as always, I’ll be sharing videos and writing blog posts…and I do hope you’ve taken a look at my Substack! I’m not writing there everyday, but I do very much enjoy the platform.
My oldest daughter and I will be doing most of the cooking for Thanksgiving and we’ve decided on the menu. We’ll be serving all of our traditional favorites and a couple of new recipes as well. I’ll be headed to the grocery store early tomorrow to beat the crowds and then making pies to put in the freezer. I’m also planning to set the table…I have flowers arriving on Wednesday for the centerpiece and I want to do a special little something (haven’t decided yet) on everyone’s plate. Our family has gotten so large that we have to set up a children’s table too! I’m sure you all know that anything you can do ahead of time makes things easier!
My daughter Rebecca and her family will arrive on Tuesday and my youngest on Wednesday and I want to be prepared so I can spend time with everyone! The holidays are definitely in full swing…as are the Black Friday Sales! I’ll be shopping from my computer…I don’t love the crowds
