Black & White…and Everything in Between

They say nothing in life is truly black and white... and I think that's worth thinking about. As Oscar Wilde put it, "The truth is rarely pure and never simple." There's almost always a grey area, a nuance, a second look that changes everything.

Which brings me to this skirt.

I bought it last season and never wore it. Not because I didn't love it... but because I kept trying to make it into something more complicated than it needed to be. I wanted to dress it up, style it perfectly, find the "right" moment. And in doing that, I talked myself right out of wearing it at all.

Then…the other day, I threw on a simple cropped black tee and my zebra mules and suddenly, there it was! The look I'd been circling around since last summer…effortless, graphic, and a little bit unexpected. Sometimes the most stylish decision you can make is the obvious one you keep overlooking.

Don’t overcomplicating the beautiful things already in front of you. That applies to getting dressed..and to most of life as well!

Black and white will never go out of style... and neither will the reminder that simplicity is its own kind of sophistication. The grey areas in life are where the interesting stuff happens. And sometimes...so is the best outfit you almost never wore!
