The Grown-Up Way to Wear Gingham This Summer
Gingham, but make it sophisticated…
Gingham is having a real moment again, but the 2026 version has shed the picnic-table sweetness it used to carry. The print is showing up bigger, bolder, and more grown-up this season... trousers in particular have become the way fashion people are wearing it, styled with everything from a plain tee to a polished blouse. Here's where I'll be honest though... gingham can go sweet fast, and sweet is not what I'm after. At this point in my life I want chic and elegant. The trick is in the styling. A small-scale olive check (they look black in some of the pictuures) against a crisp white blouse, my VAHAN jewelry, a structured rattan bag, and a classic leather block heel (that’s so very versatile). That's what pulls gingham out of the garden party and into something that actually feels very sophisticated!
I knew the minute I saw these pants that I wanted them and as far as a fitted ponte pant, Vince makes the best ones. These pants have a side zip, they are a mid rise and meant to be somewhat fitted. I pictured a white long sleeve button up or a sleeveless white top and leather shoes with these pants from the very beginning, but rattan flats or heels or a great white lower heel sandal (also love these green flat sandals) would also be fabulous! This is such a great summer look that works for nearly any occasion and, because of the classic style and fit, these pants will be in your closet for years to come!
For this look, I decided to wear my VAHAN jewelry because it's so classic and fits the styling perfectly. I'm finding that I reach for these gorgeous bracelets every day. There's something about jewelry made this well that earns its way into your daily rotation. I've been a fan of the brand for years, and these are the pieces I'd still be wearing a decade from now. That's the test for me now... will I still love it later. VAHAN passes every time.
The peonies have been so beautiful this year and I’m sad to see them go, but the consolation is that my gardenia bush is in full bloom and they smell so good! I’m going outside as soon as I finish this post to cut a few and put by my bed.
Thanks so much for reading today!
