Getting Dressed, Getting Real
Yesterday I went into my closet to put together a video for Instagram featuring the fabulous boots from The Office of Angela Scott featured in the picture above. The Office of Angela Scott is one of my favorite shoe brands, and Iβve talked about this brand often here on Crazy Blonde Life. I love the colorful, creative and classic with a twist designsβ¦they really add a statement to an outfit!
These boots, the Miss Clementine, were graciously gifted to me by the brand, and this outfit reflects my determination to be true to my style and to myself as I move forward in my life.
Itβs been a journey getting here and figuring out how to be an influencer and content creator without accepting collaborations, especially paid ones, that Iβm not completely in love with. In the beginning, I told myself I was simply offering a glimpse of whatβs available to women, but wearing outfits I wouldnβt actually wear in real life started to feel inauthentic. The more of those collaborations I accepted, the more they were offered, and eventually it began to feel like I didnβt even know what my own style was anymore.
Itβs not that any of the clothes Iβm talking about are bad, itβs just that some of them didnβt feel like me. At 62, Iβve decided to move forward in a different way. I want to encourage you to find your personal style, because it feels so good to dress in a way that shows the world your own unique personality.
Clearly, my photographer is on vacation and I was on my own yesterday as far as these pictures go, but they do show the outfit pretty well! Iβll have better pictures soon because one thing thatβs always been important to me from the beginning is quality photography!
As I was coming up with this look, I started with the shoesβ¦I knew the pants had to be cropped but it took a couple of tries to get them right. Initially I tried on a pair of off white cropped flare jeansβ¦I loved the color combo, but the flare wasnβt right and they were a bit too long to show the whole boot. I knew I wanted to wear a denim jacket and the one pictured was perfect with the jeans from Frame that I finally decided on. I chose these jeans because I could roll them up slightly. The camel sweater over a white button up was perfect and the fun pearl necklaces from Julie Miles were the perfect statement accessory! Julie is a long time friend and very talented jewelry designer!
I would absolutely wear the boots with the off white pants mentioned above, but for the video I was making, I wanted to show the whole boot to accentuate just how gorgeous they are! I have always loved a skinnier, lower rise jean because they work for my body type and this look is absolutely 100% me!
The island in my closet is currently covered with pieces of outfits Iβve started putting together for upcoming blog posts. Iβll be sharing more of my creative process tomorrow on my Substack, so I hope youβll pop over and check it out!
As Iβve been playing around in my closet, Iβm beginning to see where I need to fill inβand Iβm also learning what Iβm truly drawn to. Iβm so excited to see where all of this leads, because itβs going to be a definite change in both my content and what my business looks like. And Iβm sure itβs going to be amazing, because Iβm finally being completely true to myself and getting back to the things I love.
As for the rest of the outfitβ¦the jeans are Frame Denim, the denim jacket is from Franne Gold, the camel sweater is from Brochu Walker and my bag is from Coastal Clutch (two absolute favorite brands).
Today, Iβm starting the process of taking down the Christmas decorationsβ¦really looking forward to getting the house back in order! Please let me know what you think of this postβ¦leave a comment below and let me know!
Thanks so much for reading today!
