Channeling Carrie: A Playful Spin on Classic Glamour
Ahhh where to begin…
I received this very fabulous tulle skirt from Benaar LA and knew the moment I saw it that I wanted to style it with a Sex and the City feel.
I had called my friend Kim to come and help me style a few outfits…you know sometimes when you stand in your own closet you can’t see the forest for the trees and having another set of eyes is very helpful! Kim (@houseofloveedit) has a photographic memory of my clothes and remembers things I own that I don’t even remember! She started pulling things out and asking me where this was and where that was and before I knew it, I had my Carrie Bradshaw look…ready to go! We originally had a jacket over the whole thing but it was a little too boxy and I love this look just as it is!
As I said, the skirt is from Benaar LA and the gorgeous blouse is from Cinq a Sept (from two seasons ago). The sequined vest is probably 30 years old from Milly and I’ll never part with it (please keep those nice pieces that you feel an emotional attachment to!)! I pull this vest out often when I need a bit of bling! I think the fabulous little Givenchy calf hair bag is totally unexpected as is the pearl cross necklace from Julie Miles. The necklace is another piece that lends itself to so many different styles and definitely makes a statement! And…believe it or not, the shoes are from Amazon! You just never know!
For me, this look is all about channeling that unapologetic Carrie Bradshaw energy - the kind that celebrates fashion as both armor and art…it shields us when we need strength, yet also reveals us through beauty, imagination, and self-expression.
This look is playful yet empowering and makes everyday streets feel like a runway, reminding me (and hopefully you too) that style is meant to be joyful, fearless, and fun.
Below I’m including a boutique with favorite items from Benaar LA! Be sure to check out the website to see the full collection! These clothes are fun and well priced!
I’d love to know what you think of this post…leave a comment below (please)!
Thanks for reading today…Friday rolls around so quickly - where does the time go!?
~XOXO Suzanne
