It's All in the Details

One jacket…two ways!

This suede jacket from Sea New York stopped me the moment I saw it. I knew it had to be mine! It’s the contrast of the lace and suede that made me love it! This is the kind of piece that earns its place in your wardrobe by easily working in two different ways and…this is just the tip of the iceberg! I have so many other ideas for styling this jacket!

For this post, I styled the suede jacket with the same pair of jeans and made a couple of subtle changes, which gave it a totally different vibe!

Look one leans into the romance of it. A cream silk blouse underneath…boho, flouncy, with lace on the sleeves that peeks out from the jacket's cuffs in such a beautiful way. Add a pearl necklace with a turquoise cross from Julie Miles and you've got something that feels collected, not costume-y. The Louis Vuitton tote is the punctuation mark…structured against all that softness and the perfect match.

Look two strips it back. Long sleeve tee, tan suede booties that complement without competing, and two necklaces doing interesting things together…a French Kande beaded pendant and a long strand of pearls from Julie Miles. The layers of jewelry replace the layers of fabric. I kept the same tote because it just works.

Even though this jacket is new, styling is rarely about buying something new. It's about understanding what you already have and asking it a different question…”how do I want to feel today”. A boho blouse or a simple tee…girls night out or a quick lunch with friends…daytime or evening?! The jacket doesn't change, but your intention does. And once you understand that, getting dressed is a lot more interesting and a lot less expensive!

The jacket (and it can be any suede jacket you already own - love this one too) is the constant. Everything else is just you deciding who you want to be that day.

This is a year round jacket…

As I was writing this post, I thought about how gorgeous it would be with a plaid blouse underneath for the holiday season. And…I recently styled it with a summer dress from Veronica Beard and tan booties. It was a fun way to go ahead and wear the dress while staying warm! I’ve linked a similar dress in the boutique to give you an idea!

Wearing what you have in your closet takes some thought, but it’s a creative process that can be rewarding fun and it’s also a chance to show your true personality!

Thanks so much for reading today!
