The Red Tweed Theory

March is having a moment!

Tulip magnolias…more precisely called Saucer Magnolias, bloom every year for about two weeks in March. “Tulip magnolia" is a nickname people use because the blooms are tulip-shaped before they fully open. These trees put on a stunning show and I look forward to seeing them bloom every year! A lot of people would have just driven by this gorgeous tree in my neighbor’s yard, but I saw it as a perfect spot to do a photo shoot…and I loved every second, starting with this red tweed jacket from Benaar LA!

This jacket is a great a reason to get dressed…it’s a sleeveless crimson-raspberry tweed with silver jewel buttons, fringe trim and a self-belt that actually creates a waist. It functions as a top or a jacket depending on the temperature, it photographs beautifully, and it makes you stand up straighter just putting it on (not kidding). I paired it with my Veronica Beard skinny flares, Roger Vivier red pumps, a Tory Burch red suede bucket bag, and purple sunglasses that match the thread in the jacket and the tulip tree blooms!

Here's what I know about myself…I don't need a special occasion! I need a good Tuesday outfit, and the presence of mind to notice when something is beautiful. The magnolias were blooming. The light was perfect. I put on the red shoes.

That's the whole philosophy…

Don't save the good stuff. Wear the jacket and for goodness sake…notice the trees.

There really are no words for how beautiful these trees are…

If there's a tulip magnolia anywhere near you right now, go stand under it. The good china and the good outfit both exist to be used.

You can shop this look below…

Thanks so much for reading today…
