Spring's Most Versatile Skirt and How I'm Wearing It

The Skirt That Does All the Work!

There are some pieces that stop you in your tracks the moment you put them on...this Zimmermann skirt is one of them.

Olive polka dot, button front, a sweep of fabric that moves when you walk. It's casual and elevated all at once...which is honestly my favorite place to live in fashion. I'm packing this one for Charleston and I can’t wait to get there and wear it!

I styled it with a simple tank, a cropped denim jacket (such a versatile piece) and raffia platform sandals...and finished it with my Ulla Johnson bag. The denim jacket is the key here. It takes something that could feel precious and makes it feel effortless. Thrown on and not fussed over!

Now let's talk about polka dots for a second...because this print never goes out of style and I think it deserves more credit than it gets. There's something about a dot that is eternally chic. It's playful without being girlish, classic without being boring. Very Audrey Hepburn. Very intentional. And in this deep olive color...it feels completely fresh for spring.

This skirt could go so many directions. Dress it up with heels and a silk blouse for dinner. Keep it exactly like this for a day of exploring. Throw on a linen blazer for something more structured. It's the kind of piece that does the heavy lifting for you.

Let's talk about the cut of the skirt for a second because it's doing a lot of the work here. This is a fit-and-flare silhouette...fitted through the hips with front pockets that actually lay flat, and then a dramatic sweep of fabric that flares all the way to the hem. It's incredibly flattering because it defines the waist and hips and then gives everything below it room to move. The button front feels very current right now this skirt couldn’t be any more flattering!

Charleston is the perfect place for a skirt like this...cobblestone streets, waterfront walks, long lunches on a porch somewhere beautiful. I can already picture wearing this to brunch on King Street, wandering through the market, or sitting down to dinner somewhere with good oysters and even better company. It's that kind of skirt. The kind that feels right no matter where the day takes you.

We are headed out as soon as I can get myself ready! I’ll see you in Charleston!

Thanks for reading today and I hope you all have a great weekend!

~XOXO Suzanne
