A Southern Americana Summer with Chico's
Americana is watermelon and hotdogs on the patio and dogs underfoot!
There's something about late spring in the South that pulls me straight back to my childhood. The smell of cut grass, watermelon on the patio, the clink of a croquet mallet, Archie and Amos in the shade waiting for someone to drop a hot dog. That's Americana to me...the rhythm of a summer day on the street where I grew up.
When Chico's reached out about their Americana collection, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Pull it all together... the food, the flowers, the dogs, the games. I set my table outside, opened a bottle of rosé and pulled out my vintage Frye cowboy boots.
I styled several looks from the collection, each one a different mood for a summer day, but all fabulous and classic!
The food was easy on purpose. Hot dogs with chili, shredded cheddar and slaw. Watermelon carved into wedges. Hampton Water rosé chilling in a gorgeous ironstone urn with flowers from the grocery store. I set up croquet on the front lawn, and got some red, white and blue paper lanterns. This was such an easy party to set up and I did most of it in advance. I bought cupcakes from the grocery store and poured out bags of potato chips into a vintage tin bowl.
What I love about Chico's is that the pieces work the way I actually live. The chambray dress will go everywhere and can be styled in so many different ways…it’ll also go straight into fall! The cute (and very Southern) seersucker blazer is going to live in my closet for years and looks great with white jeans, blue jeans, shorts and dresses. These two pieces really stand out in the collection for me although, I can’t get enough of the red!
This whole thing was so much fun to put together and Archie and Amos supervised the whole thing, as always!
I styled this chambray dress with a red bandana scarf around my neck for a touch of color…such a great, easy look!
This is an idea you’ll want to copy! I got out a white ironstone bowl…perfect for 3 or 4 bottles of wine and scattered a bouquet of flowers that I purchased at the grocery store around the bottles and then added ice! It was really so pretty and could easily serve as a centerpiece on your table for any summer party! I’m going to be doing this all summer long!
You really can’t go wrong with a platter full of hotdogs…
This ponte knit red vest is great on it’s own, styled with straight leg jeans, but would also be so cute with a tank or tee underneath and of course, it also looks amazing with white pants.
The boutique below contains all the pieces I’m wearing in this post plus a few others that I think you’ll love! All perfect for summer!
The watermelon served as decor as well as a delicious side for this little party! I garnished the tray with a beautiful hydrangea…so easy!
The perfect blouse with navy blue stars, styled with a fabulous scarf is an ideal piece for Memorial Day or July 4th!
A white denim jacket is a closet essential for spring and summer and this one is lightweight and one you’ll reach for often. This jacket is front and center in my closet to compliment so many different outfits!
You’ll love this red eyelet blouse all summer long for a pop of color! I wore it with white jeans and espadrilles and did a little French tuck to give it more pizazz! I think it would also be great unbuttoned over a tank.
Chicos has the best jewelry and accessories to go with absolutely everything!
This seersucker blazer is so sassy (also comes with matching pants) and I absolutely love it styled over a tank with jeans. It just screams summer to me!
Wearing an all white look featuring the most amazing white linen blazer, for croquet in the front yard. I hadn’t played in years and had so much fun! My mom always loved to get everyone together for a game of croquet and I have great memories of those games!
These boys are such photo bombers! They really do have to be in the middle of everything!
I love these clothes from Chicos and I hope you’ve enjoyed this post!
Thanks so much for reading!
