NYC Outfits, Last-Minute Gifts & Christmas Prep: My Holiday Edit

I’m sitting here in shock that it’s already December 7…seriously, wasn’t it July about five minutes ago? Time is flying, but hopefully this post will help you put the finishing touches on your holiday décor, wrap up your shopping list, and pick out something fabulous to wear while you’re at it.

I’m finally almost finished decorating the house…seems to be taking longer this year for some reason. It’s been so cold here that I don’t want to go outside, but Baldy has been helping get the greenery up around the doors and the outdoor fireplace and I’ve been making the bows for the wreaths. Last year I went a little crazy buying ribbon and have a whole bin of new ribbon to choose from which has been nice! I’m still loving the pink and orange ribbon for inside with a little moss green thrown in and I decided to do the same for the ribbon outside this year.

Every year I buy a few new holiday decor items and I purchased two of these adorable little Christmas trees with pearls from Terrain to add to the mantle in our parlor. I also like to add a couple of new Christopher Radko ornaments to our collection each year. We have been collecting these ornaments since the girls were little and they make the tree sparkle! When I was growing up, we always had tinsel on our tree and I decided to add it to our tree this year! It feels really decadent and I love how it turned out!

With the house just about finished and everything looking very festive, nothing makes me happier than turning on the Christmas music and lighting a few holiday candles. We installed a Sonos system during our renovation, and honestly, it’s one of the best decisions we made. Between the playlists and the delicious scents of the holiday candles (also love this one from Jo Malone), there’s absolutely no mistaking it…Christmas is here!

Last night we went to our first holiday party of the season and got all dressed up! I wore my green Simkhai dress and it was perfect. The long sleeves kept me warm and it really is one of my all time favorite dresses! We’re leaving for New York in a few hours and it’s in my suitcase…I’m planning to wear it to dinner at Le Coucou! I’ve been wanting to eat there for a while now and I’m very excited! I may wear a pair of patterned tights to mix things up a bit! I wore this pair of slingback stilettos and danced the whole night…they’re very comfortable!

As far as what else I’m packing for New York…

This black Ulla Johnson dress will be perfect to wear to dinner tomorrow night. I’ve packed a pair of very old (15 years) Jimmy Choo moto boots (these are very similar) and a fur stole to go with it! It’s an edgy outfit that I can’t wait to wear…I’ll definitely be taking pictures! It’s going to be very cold and I always overpack (not really sorry about that), so I’m taking several coats! I purchased this leopard one from MME Mink last year and haven’t worn it but once…I’m also packing this navy coat as well as this one from Frame (obsessed with this one). I’m wearing one of my vintage minks to the airport so I’ll be nice and warm when we land…there is nothing like a fur coat to keep you warm, but I only buy vintage!

I ordered this pair of gloves from Veronica Beard and paid to have them sent overnight…unfortunately, they won’t be here until tomorrow so I’ll have to buy a pair while I’m there. I am glad I got them because they’re sold out now, but this pair is similar.

While I’m on the plane, I’m planning to get organized as far as what gifts I still need to purchase and make a detailed list of what I’ve already bought so I can order everything and then when we get back home…I’ll start wrapping it all! I actually love to wrap packages and it’s even more fun when you have gorgeous wrapping paper! I’m color coding everything this year…everyone gets a specific paper so I can keep up with which packages belongs to who! I love this one for Stella who is two and this one for Sissy who is one.

And…if you’re still looking for a few really great affordable gifts, be sure to check out my Amazon Storefront! I’ve been busy coming up with the best finds for everyone on your list! These Ginger Cookies make the best gifts for neighbors and the tin is so pretty that all you need to do is put on a bow. We’ve already eaten a whole tin!

I’m linking a few Amazon Ideas Lists below filled with things that would make great gifts!

Speaking of gloves…these fur trimmed touchscreen gloves would make an amazing gift and are really great looking (also love these leopard ones)! The price on this down jacket is unbelievable so you may want to apply the “one for you, one for me rule” when thinking about purchasing it! I’ve just ordered these cashmere pants and I know I’ll never want to take them off! Hoping they’ll be on the porch when we get home from NYC! I’ve made a whole idea list of cozy items that will make great gifts so be sure to check it out!

I’m going to have to end here because we’re leaving for the airport! I’ll be posting from New York so be sure to follow me on Instagram to see what I’m up to! I’ll have a few restaurant recommendations and more! Happy Sunday!
