The Crazy Blonde Life
A Style Statement For Life
If you've been hanging around here for the past month or so, you may have noticed a theme running through just about everything I've sharedβ¦here on the blog, on Substack and on Instagram. It's been a little bit about fashion, yes, but it's really been about something biggerβ¦showing up as your full, unapologetic self, living loudly, and choosing joy. I've been pulling all of those threads together lately, and I have a feeling the best is still to come. But more on that soon.
And nowβ¦let's talk about this outfit, because I am a little obsessed with peplum denim jackets right now (Iβve purchased 3 this season), and if you haven't jumped on the peplum denim trend yet, consider this your sign. The little flared hip detail makes a classic denim jacket feel fresh, feminine, and more than a little fabulous. I styled mine over a lacy top that I purchased on major sale last fall and pulled out some older olive green barrel jeans (the barrel silhouette is still going strong), and slipped on my Gucci loafers. I purchased these loafers in Paris 4 years ago when I was with my daughter and still love them so much (they have a very similar pair available now)! This is maximalism done rightβ¦casual meets polished, high/low and definitely an unexpected combination. The jacket is truly the piece that makes the whole look, and I've linked several others below. Since the other pieces Iβm wearing are older, Iβve linked similar pieces so keep scrolling.
But honestly, the outfit is just the surface. What's underneath itβ¦the why behind how I dress and how I try to live and show up everydayβ¦that's what I really want to talk about. You could call it my personal philosophy or you could call it twelve years of blogging and a lot of living but, here's what I know to be trueβ¦in fashion and in lifeβ¦
I believe more is moreβ¦in color, in texture, in living. Maximalism is not excess - it is abundance made visible. The courage to say yes to all of it when the world tells you to edit yourself down to something easier to digest.
I believe in wearing the good things nowβ¦the vintage fur, the designer piece, the leopard coat (any of the ten). Life is not a dress rehearsal! Every day you can get up and get dressed is a special occasion.
I believe a woman becomes more interesting with age, not less interesting. What accumulates over decadesβ¦the art absorbed, the places wandered, the ideas wrestled with, the losses survived, the lessons learned and the joy insisted on anywayβ¦that is a kind of wealth no algorithm can measure and no trend can replace.
I believe authenticity is a radical act in a world optimized for performance and palatability. Choosing to be genuinely, fully yourself, opinions and allβ¦is not recklessness. It is integrity and I will not shrink my perspective to fit someone else's comfort. Been thereβ¦done that!
I believe curiosity is a style statement. The most interesting women I know are not the most conventionally dressedβ¦they are the ones who are interested. In history, in food, in a stranger's story, in why things are the way they are and in whether or not they have to stay that way.
I believe in mixing the high and the lowβ¦the vintage and the new, the sacred and the irreverent. Nothing is too precious to be lived in and nothing is too humble to be celebrated. βCelebration is a party thrown in the name of gratitude!β ~ Melanie Ann Layer
I believe in having opinionsβ¦ and sharing them. But;;;I also believe in the courage it takes to change your mind. Growth isn't weakness. The woman who can say I see it differently now is not backtrackingβ¦she is paying attention.
I believe joy is resistance..beauty, creativity, and delight are not frivolous escapes from the world's weight. rather they are how we carry it and transform it.
I believe in the elegantly undoneβ¦a life that looks lived-in because it is - deeply, fully and without apology.
I believe in leaving a trail..not just outfits, but ideas. Not just content, but courage. Something that says a woman was here, and she was fully, magnificently, unapologetically evolving as herself.
This is the Crazy Blonde Life. Come as you areβ¦but come as all of you
And that, my beautiful friends, is the Crazy Blonde Lifeβ¦wine, chips, a great jacket, and a whole lot of living out loud. Pull up a seat because t's about to get goodβ¦more to come!
Thanks so much for reading!
